I'm MIESZKO

I run Shrimp Boat, a small web design agency in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Fifteen years building websites for small businesses, and I still build every one personally.

The Story

Building for the web since the dial-updays.

I built my first website in 1999. It was, by any honest measure, a mess, but it worked, and it hooked me. I have been building for the web ever since.

I started Shrimp Boat in 2011 to do it properly: to help local business owners get online with websites that actually pull their weight. Since then I have built and rebuilt sites for coaches, retailers, spas, real estate firms, and craftspeople across Metro Detroit. Fifteen years of doing this work has taught me what holds up and what doesn't, and that is most of what you are paying for.

Shrimp Boat is small on purpose. When you hire me, you work with me. There is no account manager passing notes, no junior designer learning on your project, no offshore team you will never speak to. One person, start to finish.

Why "Shrimp Boat"?

A shrimp boat goes out and hauls in a full net. That is the whole idea, I haul your business into the web with design, branding, and marketing that brings something back. The name is a little odd. People remember it. That is rather the point.

The Story

What you get with a one-person studio.

Bigger is not better when it comes to a small business website. It usually just means more layers between you and the person doing the work. Here is what working directly with me actually means.

01

You talk to the builder

Every conversation is with the person writing the code and making the design decisions. Nothing gets lost in translation.

02

Local, and actually reachable

Based in Rochester Hills, working across Metro Detroit. We can meet in person, or work remotely. Whichever suits you.

03

Fifteen years of judgment

I have seen which trends last and which ones age badly. You get a site built on what works, not what is new this month.

04

Honest scope, no upsells

build what your business needs and tell you plainly what it does not. The goal is a site that works, not a bigger invoice.

Of the clock

When I'm not building sites.

I collect handmade briar pipes, which is how I ended up working with Pawlak Pipes, a project that meant more to me than most. I play banjo, mandolin, concertina, and a few other things I am worse at. And I spend a good deal of time walking Guinness, my Newfoundland, who is roughly the size of a small bear.

I speak Polish and Hungarian, which has come in handy more than once with local clients. None of this is filler, the kind of person who notices the grain on a pipe or the timing of a tune tends to notice the small things on a website too. That is the part you cannot template.

Let's Build Something

Every project starts with a conversation – a chance to learn about your goals, your business, and what you’d like your online presence to say about you. From there, I guide you through a clear, creative process that makes building your website simple, collaborative, and stress-free.
