The Challenge
A trusted local agent. No home online.
Jim Chanske helps Metro Detroit families and retirees find the right health coverage: Medicare Advantage, Medigap, Part D, ACA Marketplace plans, and off-exchange options. His business runs on trust and referrals, and the people he works with are often turning 65 and trying to make sense of a confusing system for the first time.
He needed a website that felt as clear and steady as he is on the phone. One that explains what he does in plain language, makes the important enrollment deadlines easy to find, and gives people a simple way to reach him.
Insurance also comes with rules most websites never have to think about. Medicare marketing has required disclaimers, content has to be reviewed by his carrier, and the site handles contact details from people asking about their health coverage. All of it had to be right from day one.
The Approach
Small scope. Built right.
Not every client needs a 20-page website. Jim needed a focused site that does a few things really well, with a foundation that can grow into more content over time. The project broke into three connected pieces.
01
Brand Identity
A new logo and wordmark for ChanSurance, plus a navy and gold color palette chosen to feel trustworthy and established without looking cold or corporate. On the website, the brand runs on Bricolage Grotesque for headlines and DM Sans for body text, both picked for readability on screens of every size.
02
Website
A single landing page plus a blog, built on WordPress with Divi so Jim can update content himself. The page walks visitors through what Jim covers, the key enrollment periods, and a clear path to book a free plan review. A seasonal banner appears automatically during Medicare Annual Enrollment and hides itself the rest of the year. Large type, high contrast, and simple navigation for an audience that includes a lot of first-time Medicare shoppers.
03
Foundation
The parts nobody sees but everybody relies on. Rank Math SEO with custom metas and local schema to help Jim show up in Grosse Pointe and Metro Detroit search. A professional @chansurance.com email with proper authentication so messages land in inboxes. Medicare disclaimers in the footer, a privacy policy written around the actual form, and a launch process that includes carrier review.

the outcome
A small site that pulls its weight.
Jim now has a professional online home that matches the way he works with clients: clear, honest, and easy to deal with. Prospective clients can understand his services in a minute, see which enrollment window they are in, and book a free plan review without picking up the phone if they don't want to.
Just as important, the site is built to grow. The blog gives Jim a place to answer the questions his clients ask every year, and every new article adds to his visibility in local search. What started as a single page is set up to become a long-term marketing tool.

If you are an independent insurance agent or a small local business in Michigan, you don't need a huge website to look professional and get found. You need the right few pages, built on a solid foundation. You can read more about how I work, see the rest of the portfolio, or read on the blog about what small business websites actually need.
